Jerusalem Roads

On a road into Jerusalem , as Passover draws near
Large crowds line the traveled path; excitement fills the air.
As palm fronds wave, there passed a man riding upon a donkey’s colt.
Through shouts of joy, and songs of praise, this is the story that is told.

He is Jesus, Don’t you know? Have you not heard the great news?
Oh, Bless the King who comes in the name of the Lord!
He is Messiah, have you not heard the wondrous miracles he’s done?
Oh, sing hosanna, we sing hosanna in the highest!

On a road within Jerusalem, Passover now is here
Large crowds line the narrow street; tension chills the air.
There passed a man bearing a cross, a crown of thorns is on his head
And as he stumbles beneath the weight, the people mock and jeer and say

He is Jesus, Don’t you know? Condemned to death upon the cross
His crime to claim he is the Son of God!
Is he Messiah, the Chosen One? Yes, if the miracles are true how he saved others,
Then let Messiah save himself!

The crowds, have turned against him as they nail him to the cross
And still he prays “Forgive them Lord, for they know not!”
As noon approaches, darkness fills the skies
With his last breath he says, “It is finished!” Then….He died….

On a road out of Jerusalem, three days have since gone by
Two traveling to Ammeus saddened and shocked at his demise
When in their midst appears a stranger who heard their stories as they went
Then he related from the scriptures describing all the same events.

You should believe, you foolish people, for it was written long ago!
It was predicted by the Prophets that he would suffer as you’ve told.
They sit down to share a meal and as he blessed and broke the bread,
Suddenly, their eyes were opened and they know their stranger friend.

He is Jesus, now we know! Indeed he’s risen from the dead.
Praise be to God, Praise to the Risen Lord!
He is Messiah…yes, it’s so all that is written has come true
Now we must go…we must tell others, the Lord has Risen!

He is Jesus, Don’t you know? Have you not heard the great news?
Praise be to God, Praise to the Risen Lord!
He is Messiah, have you not heard all that is written has come true
Yes, we must go…we must tell others we serve a Risen Lord!
Yes, we must go, we must tell others…His name is Jesus.
